The region is not one climate
The lowland cities of Uzbekistan can be hot while high passes in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan remain cold or closed. Plan by elevation and route rather than by country alone.
Late spring and early autumn suit city-focused journeys. The broadest access to alpine lakes and trekking routes usually comes in the summer months.
Pack for contrast
Strong sun, dry air and rapid temperature changes are common. Layers, sun protection and a light waterproof shell are useful even on short routes.
